Special Activity Breaks

cycling somerset

Located on route 3 of the National Cycle Network, North Newton affords the leisure cyclist 13 miles of canal towpath between the historic home of Admiral Blake (Bridgwater) and the County Town of Somerset (Taunton). The route includes pubs & tearooms giving you the opportunity to pause and take in your country surroundings.

Take off across the expanse that is the Somerset Levels, miles of available riding on flat ground through century old withey beds where local arts and crafts are still made today from this local resource.

For the more adventurous and energetic, wanting that challenging off-road experience, North Newton is but a 15 minute cycle from the all year round trail challenge of the Quantock Hills. With views over the Bristol Channel to Wales, the Quantocks offer trails for every type of riding including woodland and heathland.

If that’s not enough, a 20 minute drive will see you arrive at the Mendip Hills and home of the Mountain biking ‘Cheddar Challenge’. The rides here are some of the most challenging in the South West.

Whatever your cycling aspirations, North Newton and it’s location can cover it!

At Dragonfly Barn we are pleased to offer the use of secure cycle store and washdown facilites.
